Description

What the system is and what problem it solves?

Ultratec Containerized RO Plants are fully integrated water treatment systems housed within standard ISO shipping containers. These systems are engineered, assembled, and factory-tested prior to delivery, enabling rapid deployment at site with minimal civil and installation requirements.

Containerized RO plants are intended for applications where permanent plant buildings are not feasible, where mobility is required, or where rapid commissioning is critical.

Process Design & Operating Philosophy

The core treatment process is reverse osmosis, where pressurized feed water is passed through semi-permeable membranes to separate purified permeate from concentrated reject.

The operating philosophy emphasizes:

  • Pre-engineered, plug-and-play deployment
  • Stable hydraulic and membrane loading conditions
  • Automated operation with safety interlocks
  • Continuous or semi-continuous production depending on application

For seawater applications, energy recovery devices may be incorporated to optimize power consumption.

Design Basis & Engineering Assumptions

Each containerized RO plant is designed based on project-specific inputs, including:

  • Feed water source (seawater, brackish water, well water, surface water)
  • Feed water TDS and complete water analysis
  • Required treated water capacity
  • Target permeate quality
  • Recovery limits based on scaling and fouling potential
  • Ambient temperature and site conditions

Final design parameters are confirmed following engineering review.

System Configuration

A typical Ultratec containerized RO system includes:

  • RO membrane skids with FRP pressure vessels
  • High-pressure and booster pumps
  • Pretreatment equipment (as required)
  • Chemical dosing systems (antiscalant, pH adjustment, dechlorination)
  • Instrumentation for flow, pressure, conductivity, and temperature
  • PLC-based control panel installed within the container
  • Internal piping, cabling, lighting, and drainage

The system layout is developed using 3D design to ensure accessibility and safe operation.

Performance Parameters

Performance characteristics are project-specific and typically include:

  • Capacity: As per customer requirement
  • Recovery rate: Optimized based on feed water quality
  • Salt rejection: Membrane dependent
  • Operating pressure: Determined by osmotic pressure and system losses
  • Energy consumption: Dependent on feed salinity and recovery

Guaranteed values, where applicable, are issued during project execution.

Pretreatment & Integration Requirements

Pretreatment is engineered to protect RO membranes and ensure stable operation. Depending on feed water quality, pretreatment may include:

  • Media filtration for suspended solids removal
  • Activated carbon filtration for chlorine and organics
  • Iron and manganese removal systems
  • Cartridge filtration
  • Advanced pretreatment such as UF for challenging waters

Containerized RO plants can be integrated with storage tanks, distribution systems, or downstream polishing units.
